All Types VW show – Bodelwyddan Castle North Wales – 18th May 2014.
This is the second time I have been to this show and both times it’s been outstanding. Our club stand grew this year too with a great turn out! The facilities here are great and there’s the opportunity to camp on the Saturday night, as Baz and others did.
The day started with us all meeting Baz to collect our passes then up to the stand in the stunning grounds of the castle with view as far as the sea! Then the task of putting up Baz’s HUGE gazebo! (Fun in itself!!) With the fantastic array of MK2s now in place it was a good time to check out the auto jumble before the show opens to the masses.
I found the jumble to be swaying more towards the air-cooled and camper market and to be frank, Mk2 parts where at scene prices, I looked at a damaged door handle and the guy wanted £10, it was no real use to anyone! Nonetheless there were some good stands and even some stuff for the kids, face painting and temp’ tattoos etc. A good amount of food and coffee stalls and a bar were also on offer!
As usual the show produced some stunning cars with “All Types” living up to its name, very early Beetles through to the latest Golfs, Passats etc, an ugly duckling was also there, a real treat. (see pics) It takes a good couple of hours to look at the cars and a further hour going back to look at favourites and taking pictures, we had our children with us so we made use of the park that is on site and the small fairground. At the end of the show there is the usual award ceremony where I’m very proud to say we received an award for Best Club Stand Runner-up!!!
If you haven’t had the chance to attend this show it’s a must for next years diary I will surely be there as will many others, here are some pictures of the day.
