The change of downpipe has resolved some issues i never knew i had really. car feels lots better now, i think having the o2 sensor in a place with more volume and a bit further back might be helping things, but im not an expert, so its probably just in my head.
well today i ordered a new downpipe from Trackslag. 3.5" into 2.5" for the exhaust.
Why would you do this craig, i hear you ask. Well, originally it had a qpeng one and in the early days of modding the car, i had to trim the pipe at the exhaust connection end as it was too long... and i cut it a bit too short. Its never really been an issue, but last night it came loose, so i decided that for the cost, it was worth getting a new one (its also an upgrade) and making sure its a bit longer this time. Not only for a better fit, but also peace of mind that its done right.
So if anyones after a 2.5" downpipe, i'll have one for sale soon. Great for conversion on a custom exhaust.
Great work Craig, that looks (and works, I've seen the video) great.
Electric tilt and slide sunroof next? :-)
funnily enough i did think about that a few years back but thought it too much effort. But then i converted the engine and loom so nothing is really too much effort now. Something to consider for sure
I smell a business opportunity, bound to be plenty of interest in such a professional install... get in there, before someone else does.
I did price up the loom creation and i can do them for just under £30 (cost) if i make a batch of tens. Not sure what a window loom would sell for really. But when you weigh up the liablity risks, its probably not worth the effort.
So its all in and works a treat. I have to take the brackets off and paint them black, then put all the trim back in now but thats just a minor thing to do
Amazing... but you can't just throw in something about fitting bespoke electric opening rear windows in passing - we need a thread about it of it's own!
it uses some VW Sharan/Ford Galaxy motors... I replicated the electric window loom for the front windows and other than that its not too complicated. I got the glass and seals from VW heritage for about £90. It will involve a small element of trimming on the B and C pillar plastics but think its worth it.
started mocking up the electric window mounts, i have made up an electric window loom for them too, so they will just sit in the centre consol next to the E-windows and i'l have full control from the comfort of my seat.
You don’t have an idle stabilisation valve so not sure what rely you’ve swapped!
Pop up to mine some time if you want me to take a look. I’ve still got my fuel pressure tester. You have an adjustable 16v WUR fitted rather than an 8v one, perhaps some fine tuning is required.
Oops, I meant the Idle air boost solenoid next to intake boot. Will amend accordingly.
Maybe tuning is required, but so many people have looked at it now it seems like a losing battle!
The green/brown relay for it was wrongly in slot 4 on the fusebox, which according to diagrams is for an upshift indicator.. only found on very early clocks AFAIK.
@Eddypeck we did note that the solinoid was not working, putting in a new relay got this triggering again, so i'm thinking that its now out of tune at cold start. Once its got a few degrees of temp into it, it seems to idle and run lovely
big fan of fitting a hidden switch on the fuel pump, personally think alarms are a waste of time. The neighbours house alarm goes off all the time and nobody ever goes to check
