It says on the instructions to disconnect the ballast resistor to make sure the loom works correctly. Is that the same as the dim dip resistor. Which means it’s disconnected at present. It’s behind the offside headlight.
The one between the plate face and the handle is the one I will be making as you can’t use the gasket supplied with the handles as they are too thick, the gasket can be no more than 1mm thick. I only found this out as I still have the fitting instructions supplied by c and r when I bought the plates years ago. It states the supplied gasket MUST be fitted. Cheers and thanks for the help.
Car is in for an mot and the tester said I don’t have side lights only headlights. This is after I fitted the uprated headlight wiring loom from heritage. It is an 91 mk2 16v with twin headlights. Is this the way it’s supposed to work. I recently changed the grill from single to twin lights and it has passed an mot since I changed them.
Thanks for that, ordered 30 x 30 sheet. I have an old broken gasket that I should be able to copy. The gasket I am making is the one between the armoured plate and the handle. This will also do for behind the armoured door plate I hope.
Does any one know where I can get the gaskets to fit the c & r armour door plates. I got my handles changed and the the gaskets that came with them were fitted instead of the old supplied gaskets, so basically the doors need all my strength to open them. The new gaskets are to thick to be fitted with the armour door plates as the gaskets need to be only 1mm thick. The company that made them are long gone and c and r have none left. If I take the plates off the doors are a different colour from where the plates were so this is not an option. Any help would be appreciated.
Ok i’ll Check that, always thought it was as I said. That’s good news for me as I only use my cars from may until end of October, so I wouldn’t need to mot any this year. Up here in Scotland we can only travel 5 miles legally, with a few exceptions, so the cars are not getting used much at the moment. Only use is a few miles to the supermarket and back.
I think your wrong saying it is a December mot for your car. The six month extension is the same for every car. It has to have an mot by end of September. The 6 months was from 31st of March
Thanks for the info, believe it or not i’ve Got a mk4 R32, that I bought the same rubber seal for about 3 : years ago. I was actually thinking to have a look at it to see if it would fit the mk2 if so Vw probably still sell it.
Can any one point me in the direction of where I can buy the sealing rubber that sits on top of the roof below the Ariel that stops water getting into the car. Heritage say I need to buy an Ariel as it comes with the ariel. Surely someone sells the rubber seal separately.
