Suspension & Steering / Re: Rear Camber Help
There isn't any adjustment on the rear axle. I guess checking the rear wheel bearings aren't loose (but wouldn't account for just inner wear) followed by having 4 wheel alignment. The latter should highlight what isn't in spec. You don't want to randomly swap parts out without knowing the cause.

Other Problems / Re: 1991 3dr - water leak under drivers door
Are you sure the water isn't coming from the inside of the door due to the membrane being "faulty"?
I'd take the door panel off just to check. Water that gets into the door (and it does) should exit the drain holes. However water can track down the internals and will find its way out of any breaks in the membrane then proceed to fill the footwells.
Good luck, it's not the weather for drying sodden footwells!

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: MK3 Aircon into MK2 anyone got a guide?
I wasn't close enough, but....now getting closer.... 😁
So with some external encouragement from a guy called Hamish (sincere thanks) I'm slowly making progress with the final push on the electrics. I'm afraid my jointing won't be as good as many (I really wish I was better, but I guess that comes with skill as well as practice?). I may get some local help to neaten it all up since this really isn't my forte. I've had to shorten many of the wires to the FCM and I probably should have routed the black/yellow through the drivers side of bulkhead so it was more direct into the fusebox.
I'm going to fit a VR6 dual fan. I'm assuming the original CE2 fan wiring is man enough for the VR6 fan motor? The spade connector seems massive in comparison to the original!
Getting closer but not finished.

General Chat / Re: Seat covers mk3 fitting in an mk2?
IIRC the late MK2 GTI seats are like the early MK3.

@t2000 I'm assuming you used tiewraps instead of replacing the metal hog rings? A good idea.

But MK2 seats are sooo much easier than MK7 Fiesta seats which have 10+ rings. You can imagine what F.U.N. that was transferring heating pads over and re-assembly of both sets!

General Chat / Re: Refit power steering pump Help!
I loosened the pump such that the flange inserted in the waterpump pulley. You could also maybe remove a pulley. There doesn't seem to be much adjustment left tho.
To tension I used a crowbar since the original adjuster is cr4p!

Interior, Upholstery & Trim / Re: Inner Door Membrane Fix Recommendations
I used milky/clear rubble bags cut open and fitted baggy. I used double-sided tape to fix and added a flap to divert drips away from the bottom edge.

When I do it again....and I will.
- Use rubble bags again.
- Look to position the extra flap differently (it has a gap where the window mech attaches to the inner skin so water could breach). I hear some have it almost full height stopping any drips getting to the inner.
- Use something that means I can remove the membrane and reinstate without ruining it.

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: Steering Not Returning to Centre
The camber (how much the wheel is off vertical) is adjusted via the 2 x strut-hub bolts each side. One of the holes in the hub allows for a bit of vertical movement in the camber. When I've been changing my suspension I've messed it up and it does affect the self-centring of the steering as well as an inconsistent "feel" when making parking manouvers. Garages don't normally adjust the camber when doing "alignment" and it takes time to do this properly.

Shows & Events / Re: Stanford Hall 5th May
I know it's last minute but are there any places on the stand?
I can go so happy to buy someone's ticket if they can't go.
TIA

Members' Cars / Re: LUCY ‘91 Mk2 Golf GTI Alpine White
I had a couple of broken sparkplugs when I changed them last year. Never had an issue before.

@ianmac86 maybe you can order a seat from Matt @MK2 Spares on a sale or return basis for the national?
My Facebook marketplace s/h tent wasn't a great place to be last year with all that rain!

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: Seat Foam for my 91 GTI
I believe the early MK2 foam is different to the late foam (as is the base) and I thought that the late foam is the same as the MK3.
I also have a foam base but there is a hole in the left bolster.

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: Sunroof seal
I think it's still possible for water to seep through the sunroof seal. That's why it's important to ensure the 4 x drains are clear. If you do decide to fit a new seal shop around. Lots of items with scene tax added. I bought mine from a VW dealer for about £60 but it was 5 years ago!
