Post by: vw-widow on September 03, 2022, 10:59:53 AM
Previous years the Club stand has flopped, so getting in early!

Who would be interested in putting their Mk2 on the stand?
 10&11 June.

+1

I've bought camping tickets for the whole weekend so I'll be there this time. It'll be the first year in ages and really looking forward to it already.

That’s a half decent list already. Can’t wait.
Also good to see Lindsey on the list, not seen her for a few years

Worth noting, Bristol now has an active Clean Air Zone driving in/through it in your mk2 Golf will cost £9 a day  :o

The greedy and arrogant councillors in Bristol have included the end of the Portway and the swing bridge at Cumberland Basin within the charge zone.

Online map and info (https://www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/streets-travel/bristols-caz/view-a-map)

PDF (http://chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.cleanairforbristol.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Small-CAZ-D-Final-2021.pdf) See Inset A - the sneaky barstewards!

This means, if you're coming from the North, you can't even skip around the outskirts of Bristol from Avonmouth onto the Portway, going under the Clifton Suspension Bridge to past Aston Gate City Ground, and onto the A370 to get to the Bristol Volksfest site.

If you're coming from the M5, get off at Junction 19 (the junction with Gordano Services).
You should be OK coming from the South.

@vw-widow do you know what size stand we have, how many cars?
I also asked Jessica Farley on fb if she wants a space for her Fire and Ice.

With regards to the even itself please see the official site: https://www.bristolvolksfest.co.uk/

This will give information about tickets and camping, and what is happening over the weekend with regards to entertainment etc.

- yes it's a whole weekend
- camping is within the festival
- if you don't want to stay on site:
- - it's on the outskirts of Bristol which is a major town in England so there will be plenty of hotels. Parking my be limited, and a mk2 Golf will have to pay clean air tax.
- - it's also not far from the coast, Weston-Super-Mare (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Weston-super-Mare/@51.3433366,-3.0875484,12z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x4871f6e01d7c53ef:0xa2312ff8fdad9426!8m2!3d51.345606!4d-2.9612624!16zL20vMDF3dDUw), Burnham-Sea (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Burnham-on-Sea/@51.2430488,-3.0310066,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x4871ff627fc8c89f:0x8985e18fcd3ba4d1!8m2!3d51.240139!4d-2.993858!16zL20vMDI5bmxy),
Brean Sands (https://www.google.com/maps/search/brean+sands/@51.3061093,-3.0476935,13z/data=!3m1!4b1). So if coming over you might want to explore the local area more.
- fairly sure you'll only need a passport as a tourist. But as you're driving check your insurance and you may want some breakdown cover.

- Some large clubs have club camping for the whole weekend. Meaning those people can book a club related ticket and get club camping where the whole club camps together in an allocated section.

We DO NOT have that this year, we only have a club stand for Sunday.
So the club spaces, are how many spaces we have for the club stand on the Sunday.
Those attending for the weekend will need to book general camping, you'll be on the campsite next to the event field. And on Sunday morning will have to move the car to the club stand for the day.

I hope that helps

Note from organisers- please tell your club to book day tickets for Sunday online.
Then you must let me know their names and booking refs on 26th May, then we will send entry instructions to everyone before the event.  @Ronwes

Thanks, please can you ask if the instructions they're going to dish out will cover people already on site? I'll be camping from Friday, I'm concerned I might not be able to move my car out of general camping and into the show on Sunday morning.

I have an order number, is that the same as a booking ref?

@vw-widow just waning to double double check, is it right that we don't have any club camping and only have the club stand for Sunday?

Thought I'd ask in case anything had changed last minute.

I have my space in general camping but I've seen some comments in other facebook groups where people, like me, that had already booked general tickets, were able to change their booking to club camping when they were aware the club had an area.

Also, any idea of numbers for the stand on Sunday?

@Eddypeck yes just the Sunday club stand.

I think to have club camping you needed 10+ people, we have now 9 just for the stand.

I should have more details this week and will let you all know.

Hi I'm thinking of getting a day ticket and coming down on Sunday, is it too late to get on the club stand and is there any additional charge to show the car on the stand? Thanks

Gordano services (apologies been spelling it wrong previously) meet 7.30am with the aim of leaving there at 7.45am to make the 15 min trip to venue - is this ok with everyone?
