Genuinely excellent garage in the south west.
They love mk2s and every time I can't fix a problem, I know they can

Can fully recommend Luccombe Garage in Redland Bristol.

An independent, but up until about 1976 used to be a franchised small VW dealer.

Two working proprietors now in their early 60s but have been in the trade all their lives - and know VWs from the 1960s onwards like the back of their hands.

Have used them since 1986, as did my late father from about 1970 up until 2015.

Chapman Auto Service in St Albans have been very impressive in my experience. Independent VW specialist.

Also recommend Cambridge Road garage in Cosby, Leicester. Not a VW specialist but one (or more) of the mechanics is a fan, they know their way around older VWs. Honest and reasonably priced.

Wow! I've not heard of Gwent VW for ages!
Used to be great back in the day, glad to hear they're still going strong.

Please tell me there is a recommendation for a Garage in Edinburgh?!
Just driven 300+ miles in the MK2 (as the modern car had a cracked alloy) and about halfway here the rear left bearing started grumbling. By the time we arrived it was at full shout.. :o

Need to find a garage before Thursday to either replace the bearing or do something to make sure it doesn't seize on the way home

Any and all suggestions welcome
