Title: Do I need to fix my dipstick?!
Post by: jonmitchel on September 18, 2020, 12:53:00 PM
My engine oil dipstick seems to be missing its socket - previous owner had somehow rigged one up with insulating tape - do I need to do anything about it? Thanks for any help.

Yes, you do need to fix it!
If you don't have that, you don't accurately know how much oil you have.

Fortunately, they are very cheap...

If you put the new one in a cup of boiling water and fit it while  still hot, it will slide on easier and be less likely to split or break!
