Engine stand...

You might remember I'd quite a job getting someone to sell me an engine stand, so without opening up that can of worms again, it's enough to say I eventually managed to get one.

From what I can see most of the ones advertised appear to be the same generic chinese product, maybe painted a different colour and someone elses sticker applied but otherwise identical.

If I'm right and that's the case the stands measurements are probably all identical too.

Don't think any of them come with the actual bolts you'll need to fasten the block to the stand with, mine didn't.

If you're considering a stand and need these bolts and to save you covering the same ground these are what I found fitted the stand and vacant block / gearbox attachment points -

Bolts - M12 x 110mm
Thread pitch 1.75

Plus a bag of M12 washers to act as packing and protect contact points - I got 2.5mm thick ones, outside diameter 28mm - suggest a minimum of 20, but they're so cheap get a few spare.

I used these sellers, if you can't be bothered looking - might get them cheaper elsewhere but again for a few pence why worry.

https://www.sgs-engineering.com/ec2000-esll-hoisting-lifting-set   at home i have this kit or the 5yr old version,  like you said the studs you have to purchase separately. currently my hoist has ABF hanging, and the engine stand has 8v gti from mk1(DX)

Does look to be the exact same one.

Good to know they're still going strong after 5 years, I'd image yours probably gets plenty of use.
