cleaning the airflow sensor

shortly after starting the engine, it almost dies, but no problems thereafter.

someone gave me a hint about the airflow sensor. therefore im going to clean it.

has someone done this before ? i regularly need the car,
so is there any advice/instruction, i should have beforehand ?

Not sure what you've in your Golf, but it's possibly the same Bosch set up shown here - Jacquot -'89 Peugeot 205

When you say 'clean', if you mean take apart I'd advise you have a good look into it before you tamper with anything.

Yes it's doable, though at the very least you'll need a CO gas tester to work it properly.

There's alot that can be easily damaged and expensive or impossible to replace.

Ideally get another one to work on first, if you do fix it, it'll be a great spare.
