Con Rods

Has anyone got any experience of MaXPeeding connecting rods in a 16v golf? I've busted mine and at £280 less discount to £200, these look like good value compared to standard VW at £500. Grateful for views, please?

To finish this thread, on advice from a few of the wiser on this forum, I bought a set of  Pro-Race Engineering rods with ARP bolts. They look so good on new pistons and rings,  I'm kind of reluctant to hide them inside the engine!

Even the bolts are gorgeous on their own!

What spec is the engine ? Personally id stick with the OEM rods.

Maxspeed racing sounds cheap

Thanks Grey goose. Theres a story behind them.

The OE bolts were single use, so i needed to find more bolts. I was having trouble sourcing the right bolts but I found some Febi ones.  But they turned out to be a tad large and I'd wrecked a con-rod trying to fit them.
Disaster. .
So then I had a choice to try to source some second hand OE conrods and more expensive ARP bolts, or just to buy a matched balanced set of these lovely looking things. They were £400 with ARP bolts fitted, so not far off a replacement set of con rods and refitting  ARP bolts myself.
But to your question my engine is standard power, nowhere near what these are capable of handling.

Ah i see, i spose you on the line of use used or pay a few quid more and have new, on the plus side the new rods 'should' be balanced which would save you a few hours of balancing the standard rods, one of mine was a fair bit heavier than the others which is normal due to mixed batches when the engines where built
