Vinyls March 07, 2021, 12:57:37 PM Hi all. I’m looking for a near side sill vinyl and a complete swage line vinyl, to replace some tired / missing vinyl on an early Gti. All the other vinyl on the car is original, so I’m hoping to get something that isn’t noticeably different. Plenty available online just wondered if anyone has any recommendations? Also, has anyone tried fitting them? As things stand I’m thinking of sending it to a body shop for that. Cheers!
Re: Vinyls Reply #1 – March 07, 2021, 01:49:36 PM the repro vinyl looks different and has different feel. i changed the set so was all the same.. after 3 years its starting to discolour and lift. Cant remember where came from. That said my car is out 24./7 365 days a year...https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MK2-Golf-GTI-Swage-Line-Decals-SILVER-GREY-VW-NEW-3m-Original-Material/173536755849?hash=item286798c089:g:apsAAOxy79JRhBpf Last Edit: March 07, 2021, 01:51:56 PM by Kenneth cartwright
Re: Vinyls Reply #2 – March 07, 2021, 03:57:21 PM I wouldn’t get a body shop to fit vinyl.... find a local sign guy. Brown stickers off eBay I’ve used. Did the boot decal, sill covers and swage lines on my early one. 1 Likes
Re: Vinyls Reply #3 – March 07, 2021, 05:46:21 PM Hi eddy you cheeky ..... i fit vinyl at the body shop.... what we find is someone cuts and prints them doesnt go to the effort to fit.... that said i do hate doing them... same as window tinting thats a job for someone with superclean hands and time and patience
Re: Vinyls Reply #4 – March 07, 2021, 06:12:17 PM Fair enough. I used to do cut vinyl and fitting... as a side line and secondary income to my graphic design business when I was self employed. In 2007 times got hard so I rejoined the rat race. 1 Likes
