Alternator bearing squeal

My alternator is working fine (I have a voltage gauge fitted and it reports well) however the bearing is making a noise, I'm 90% sure it's the bearing and not just belts. When I get a chance I will take off the belt and give it spin without load to confirm...

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has done a strip down and replaced the bearing and how easy is it? Or should I just replace the unit, in which case where's best.

I'm sure I've seen some strip down posts for cosmetic reasons. Did you do the bearings at the same time?

TIA
