mk2 8v gti temperature sensors switch plugs

hi,

bought a resto 89 golf 8v gti last year, local garage is completing a major resto. When driving the car home last week almost lost power and couldn't get out of first gear. My mechanic thinks the wiring to the temperature sensors switch in front on the engine on the cylinder head, which could do with new electrical plugs, these need to be cut off a car as they are part of the loom. Tried everywhere and no-one appears to hold this. Any help much appreciated on obtaining the necessary. Cheers

It depends on what is wrong with them.  If the plugs are damaged then you need replacements from a breaker.  if the wires are fatigued and broken at the plug fit new terminals in existing plugs.  If the wire is fatigued and the insulation is hard for some distance then you need to splice in new wires with new terminals in existing plugs.
