Got a few little issues to work on, something up with the starting. The battery is new, and the starter is only 7 months old but for some reason it has decided to crank really slowly like its dead and not fire up. Im thinking either the battery terminals or the starter so im going to take the starter back under warranty. Also got a loud creaking/rattling noise it does something when pulling away, sounds like its by my feet area. Im thinking steering rack/column but got to get it looked at....
Took her out in the rain today for a few pics....

The rear wheel was really wobbly as investigated and found 2 bolts were wrong on the hub and was making the shoe and everything sit wrong.... all put back together properly and a new rear wheel bearing...

Couldnt find the annoying creaking/tapping noise when you pull away, checked everything and it was all tight so off we went for lunch..

Just as we got home and i reversed on the drive the creaking/clicking noise was there so we had a listen and a look and found it was coming from the lower arm rear bush... the lower arms are brand new but i think perhaps this side was put on without the inner collar and is causing the arm to move/vibrate!!

Ordered a new collar thing and also a front wheel bearing for driver side. Also ordered original Dealer Plates and Sticker today... very excited to get these!!

The car is looking great, an impressive project.  I'm working on my own project a 91 Driver which will be my sons first car.  Where did you order the dealer plates from? Thanks.

Thanks!

I ordered the plates and tax disc from Retro Plates in the end and the Dealer sticker for the back window from DMB Graphics.

I have a similar issue with non-starting. Often very slow to turn over, sometimes fine! Always does start though (so far). I've changed the battery, and checked all the earths/feeds but I had assumed my battery terminals were ok. They look very similar to yours though! Perhaps I should invest in some new terminals too.....

Yes mine has started perfect every time since changing the terminals!

Trying to get the car ready for GTi Festival on Sunday, her first proper trip out and the first time I can really show her off after sitting in a garden 20 years <3
Started to polish but then it rained.....

It looks fantastic.  Dont know if you've tried it but on the plastic on my sons golf I have painted them with forever black bumper dye.  It works well and seems to last.  Its tricky to avoid brush marks, but you don't notice them from 6ftf away, which is good enough for me.

Yeah i wanted to do mine with black bumper paint and went to 3 different Halfords, all sold out so I got annoyed and impatient and did them in Grey bumper paint instead... so they are nice and smooth and fresh... just grey!
I will do them black at some point, not sure the forever black will go over the grey paint?

Here she is Sunday at Stanford Hall VW Show :-D she managed to pop a fuel pipe off on the way home, stank of fuel! but luckily was a quick fix at the side of the road. She has done well so far on the 2 trips out she has had.

Few more bits ordered today, got some grey decals on the way and some speakers for the dash, Ive wired in the Stereo now which works! Got to tighten 2 of the engine mounts as we noticed they have worked loose! And im going to see if someone can get the dent out the swage line on the driver side door, its really bugging me now, it lets the car down

A picture after VW Breakout at Santa Pod...

trim now painted black and decals on <3
Its looking superb, a credit to your hard work and determination.  The alloys look spot on, and suit the car.  I'm a big fan of 'bread and butter' models which are probably  less common than the GTi now.
