I keep meaning to comment on this, it's come such along way in a short amount of time. You have been grafting!
Did I see you have a 2.0 8 valve for it on Facebook?

FYI - that's an 8v splitter. A 16v one is the same but has the vents cut out and air ducts that go to the arch liners for brake cooling.

Looking great though  8)

Will you be at the National Meet?

oh haha! thanks for the info lol
yes we will hopefully, if she makes it there with the gearbox making the horrible noise it is but fingers crossed!

So only a few little updates...
The noise has been diagnosed as the Gearbox, diff bearings apparently, so I have sourced another 4 speed box from mk2spares that is going to be fitted mid September.
I fixed a little leak it had in the rear panel by the light. I cleaned out a load more soil i found around the lights. I touched up a few little bits of paint...
She has been to the National Meet and also to the Retro Rides Gathering today.
Im not going to push it and go to anything else as the gearbox is leaking a fair bit and although its getting changed I dont fancy having to be recovered home so will have to be patient until it goes it to the Garage.

Had a bit of a break through this week... with a bit of help from facebook group members i have finally got my horn to work!!
It was given a temp fix for the MOT but then broke again and Ive finally found out the reason it wouldnt work... the spring on the column was missing so it wasnt connecting the earth!

im a little bit further in the washer jet saga now... i know the stalk is working and the relay is clicking, the washer pump is new so there must be a problem with the wiring from the fuse box to the pump...

She is going in to the garage on 13th so will see what I can get done and ticked off! Gearbox is the priority.

Finally got my baby back from the garage!

She has had the rear engine mount replaced
Alternator belt replaced
Wiring to positive battery terminal replaced
Rear fog light wiring tested
Rear wiper now working
Front washers now working
Clutch was changed
Gearbox Changed for a second hand replacement which unfortunately is noisy!! Its been flushed twice but still noisy, think its the input shaft bearing... very very annoying after I just spent the best part of a grand on parts and labour!!

Ive recently had to be using the Golf as my daily, she really stepped up and has done all the school runs, shopping etc.. im always getting comments on her as well which is nice.
I eventually got round to changing the wing ariel, it was seized so i changed it for a manual one...

the other job i finally got round to doing was the speedo... changed it over as it has never worked. For the first time since ive owned her she now clocks up miles haha! I did change the clocks for ones that were 3k too much so its probably worked it self out about now....

The months of daily use has really not helped the gearbox situation... the noise doesnt bother me but its started leaking now and started to get difficult when its warm to get reverse so i need to sort this ASAP.

Few little updates...

Feb I had the original gearbox refurbished and fitted and it feels amazing!

She passed an MOT March, had to have the rear fog light re-wired, a front lower arm with bush and the headlights adjusted, other than that all good :-D

In April I had an absolutely disaster, was driving along and a clunk and loud whirring noise and the gears jammed... Initially felt like a gearbox issue as it had just been messed with but after pushing it back on the drive and looking better it turned out to be the rear engine mount bracket had snapped!! This made me very sad and I sulked for a while as I couldnt fix it myself. I had it recovered to a local garage and had it replaced and all is now good again!

I also just decided to fit some smoked crystal cross hair headlamps (RHD) just for a change, obviously I kept the originals though...

No i unfortunately cant make it this year as I am away on holiday :-(
Im going to retro rides gathering though on the club stand so that will be good. Im hoping to get a few bits of bodywork done (the little dents in the door and wing) if my animals ever stop needing the vets and bills that come swiftly afterward!
