Early front engine mount.

Is the early Gti 8v 1984-1985 front engine mount the same as a mk1 golf?
Am having trouble ordering the correct one as the one on my car isn't listed.
Thanks.

I’m afraid I don’t know so can’t give you an answer. But I’m tempted to say I doubt it at the front panel arrangement of a mk1 and 2 are very different.

Can you use one of the parts catalogue sites to check and cross reference?
I wouldn't know where to start Eddy with any parts catalogue.
Vw heritage are just as confused as me, the front engine mount on my mk2 looks very similar to the mk1.
There isn't much info on the Internet but it definitely isn't the usual mk2 style it looks like this Eddy https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/171199214g-engine-mount-74-7mm.html

Hi, afraid to say they are different mounts, although both front, central of engine they have different brace brackets and bushes, seem to recall the bush on the mk1 was held in place by tension between the male and female bracket whilst the 84 mk2’s were held in place by an inner bush plus mounting bracket which bolted into a retaining bracket, so more of a complicated design.

Hope helps

That's a great help, thank you. Trying to find a early front central mount will be a challenge I really would like to keep it original and not go hydro mount.
