New member chasing my mk2 dream

Hi all,

4 years ago I finally bought my very first mk2 golf gti!
In 1991 my family immigrated to the UK, I was approx 4 years old, walking down the streets of east London I saw many many mk2’s. a couple years after, “MAX POWER” magazines started to hit the shelves and it changed everything, for those who remember will know exactly what I’m getting at.
The quality of modified cars and customs that were carried out in those days were absolutely incredible. For many many moons I dreamt of having my own mk2.
Life got in the way of a young eager petrol head and somehow never had the right time frame to get on it.

4 years ago I did something not many people would do, I bought a completely stripped mk2 8v from another eager owner who wanted to restore it, it’s been an emotional journey as it’s never easy picking up from somebody else’s job, but I’m almost there!
I’d like to say I’m near the end but that’s a complete utter lie because there is all ways more than can be done and will be done.
I’m very happy with the car, it’s still got original etched windows with the registration number on them! Very little spot rust, Very very keen to get it back in the road and meet other keen owners at the shows.

Hope to hear from you all and thanks for having me here,
Kai.
