I'm not new to VWs or Golfs - my first car was a Mk1 1.5 GLS 3 door, followed years later by a Mk2 Driver (picture below), and most recently a 7.5 GTE. Now have an ID.3 in the fleet, amongst some other things.Here's that MK2 Driver I mentioned...I loved that car; did lots of work on it, but as with all these things, I got bored and moved it on. Fast forward 20 years and I've found I'm too old to enjoy motorbikes, so I sold my GSXR and bought (drumroll please) this lovely 1989 1.8 GL...It already has a GolfMK2.co.uk sticker on the rear window, so it's probably a known car in these parts. That could have been the chap I bought it off to be fair. It's an F reg, March 1989 registered, and 76k on the clock.The dash...The first owner didn't tick many options - it has keep fit windows, no power steering, no central locking... but it does have a sunroof and heated washer jets Work so far... it has a Weber carb already; it had a K&N filter fitted, but I've put the original airbox back on there to quieten things down a little (and it does). I've renewed the vacuum lines, and put a new fuel pump and reservoir on there as there was a smell of petrol - which now seems to be cured.The hot/cold flap at the end of the air intake seems to be seized (it does nothing under vacuum), so that'll be a job for a colder day.Also, the heater doesn't work - it came with a new matrix. It also has a coolant leak at the end of the head above the gearbox, so a new flange is on order for that.The front sits too high (in my opinion) so it'll all get lowered (not slammed or on air, just something subtle).That's probably enough for now... if you've read this far, thanks for having me!!!
