1991 3dr - water leak under drivers door

The Golf parked on a sloped drive is leaking loads of water from the drivers door into the rear footwell. The carper was floating after one night so needs to be fixed  The door itself i have added a membrane and will be replacing the outer scraper but can't figure out why the bottom door seal is not stopping the water come in and it's pooling on top of the seal? I removed the seal and made sure the best part of the seal was in this corner, no difference. Is this down to a worn our door seal? Anything i can try?

Are you sure the water isn't coming from the inside of the door due to the membrane being "faulty"?
I'd take the door panel off just to check. Water that gets into the door (and it does) should exit the drain holes. However water can track down the internals and will find its way out of any breaks in the membrane then proceed to fill the footwells.
Good luck, it's not the weather for drying sodden footwells!

Well I have added a new membrane and put the card back - i might as you say watch it without the card on. Also i cleaned all the gunk around the drain holes. Just watched a youTube video and remembered that the bottom of the door is out by a cm i.e not giving a proper seal - i wonder if that could cause an issue... Suppose it doesn't help being on a slope!

And yeah not ideal time will all this rain

Noticing this post the other day. Decided i best do something about mine, as it is the kid next door knocked my door asking if they can fish it. Honestly this last week we had nonstop rain. So i just went to take door card off, bottom half of it was soaked threw, an surprise surprise some dubber been in there an removed the membrane, poor bucket of water on the ouside, just pours striaght in,


honestly why do some people touch things an think its ok to not put it back how they found it
