Rubber Jack Pads... July 21, 2020, 06:59:45 PM Bought one on ebay a few years ago and in fairness it's lasted quite a while. The trolly jack it was for was one of those cheapy 2 tonne red things with the swivelling metal affair within the lifting cup.You can remove that and put the pad in it's place to save your paintwork... fits exactly.Anyhow, it finally started to split because the sills on the 205 are quite sharp and they began to dig into it.Quick look shows pads are around the £4.00 mark - with some quite a bit more if you're mug enough not to look around before buying. In case you haven't seen one up close they're actually made from 6oz. ice hockey pucks... some pads are lightly machined to give a slot, but to me that just decreases the thickness (ie. strength).Cheapest pucks at the moment, also on eBay - 10 for £14.99 inc. P+P.

Re: Rubber Jack Pads... Reply #2 – July 22, 2020, 08:26:42 AM I usually go under the car and jack from a subframe bolt or similar.
Re: Rubber Jack Pads... Reply #3 – July 22, 2020, 10:07:18 AM I have one of those and also one of these - it's grooved to fit around the VW sills. I also use an old top mount when I lift off of the subframe bolthttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A3-A4-VW-Golf-Seat-Trolley-Jack-Rubber-Pad-Adapter-Tool-for-Deep-slot-pinch-/273016641849 2 Likes
