Door handles can break or become worn, i buy cheap as i dont envisage them lasting 30yrs....but i do try to keep old parts as spares since they did work originally, so you could 90% move the broken parts and replace with new parts as most fit in the molded handle.
remove plastic or metal trim cover from outside handle. should hide 2 screws
open door and look to the edge of door inline with handle should be bolt/screw this holds the handle in correct position remove this.
undo remaining 2 bolts from under the handle trim and the gently remove handle, gaskets, should pull away easily its an hook fit 1 end
check new handle that the forks are similar or same and try fitting and try the door when open see if all works as should. if does not open check for position inside of door card read below.
if fork not contacting then remove old fork from old handle and swap, try again should now work.
you can remove old locks/keys barrel and refit into the new its dirty but possible, removing 1 small screw or pin.
DONT BE SCARED
If sticky or difficult to open its probably the door lock mechanism itself.
Remove the screws from inner and outer edge of door card,4 was in my front doors.
pull the surrounds of the lock pin
remove handle
pull push cover around door release handle
remove mirror button and gaiter
pull card off
using a hook tool reach inside the door and flick off the wire/door puller leading to the the lock mechanism
using allen key remove the 2 bolts on external of the door, pull away you will see plastic part top that connect the door pin pull that off and thats 1 job done.
open box with new part, grease and line up with bolt holes, fit bolts and flick latch with hook tool and attach wire/door puller. and the door pull pin plastic.
open windows leave card off and try open closing door, at this point if wrong you can flick items inside door to open.
replace rain cover plastic sheets as found(if you think working as should) or as recommended in the forum pages.(double sheets)
