1.6td Vs 1.9td

Hi guys. Not very good on the computer. Need some help. I have a MK2 golf GTD 1.6. I have not done any mods yet to the car, but do have larger intercooler to fit. Boost gauge ,gov mod to do. I have just turned up fuel mix. My son has offered me his 1.9td aaz engine out of his caddy, which has had all the mods done. Is it worth me sticking with 1.6 , or upgrading to 1.9? I have taken up the strip, very slow.. just to see what improvement s can be made. Any advice would help . Thanks
