16V GTI Monza

Finally got around to building this post on the new forum instance.

Having worked at Halfords in Barking Essex for a few years, sparked my interest in cars. My older brother also owned an E30 which had me holding the torch for far too many evenings whilst fixed stuff!

I bought a 16 GTI that was a project and needed some love. It came to me more or less like this.

After storing it on my drive for almost a year, it finally went to a body shop for a full respray in Monza blue. The fuel filler neck needed some attention under the windscreen seal too.

A lot of styling queues are an itch I had to scratch. I fully plan to buy another and style it a bit differently to this one. I went big bumper, G60 arches, no door trim, crystal clear on all lights, no side repeaters and wheels are 16"x8j, et0. After the respray:

Its currently in for a new engine which will be a 16v KR head (ported, polished & flowed) and reconditioned ABF bottom end. Reprofiled cams, ARP rod bolts, self adjusting alternator. New clutch, rebuilt G60 brakes and brake lines. So much other stuff, I will add later!!

Long term plan is standalone ECU and Jenvey ITB's but that's not happening until my bank account recovers from all this ^^^ and my missus lets me back in the house!!!
