Plus Ultra - Special Edition

I recently came across this special edition that I've never seen before.

I'm certain it's not one we got in the UK, I've seen reference to it as German, Swiss, French and Czech Rep. so must have been available in Europe in generally.

Introduced in 1990, it's based on the CL and available in both 3 and 5 door models.
And I think 1.3, 1.6 and possibly even1.8 engines were available. Would need confirming.

It has:
Small (all black) bumpers and rub strips.
No arch trims.
A shallow front splitter.
Steel rims - the doughnut type, with centre cap and the 'turbo fan' style beauty rings.

And was available in a choice of 13 colours, inc metallics:
Red cherry,
Tornado red,
Medium blue,
Navy blue,
Black,
Royal blue,
Alpine white,
Silver Grey metallic,
Diamond Silver,
Metallic red,
Metallic black,
Atlas Grey metallic,
Calypso metallic,

The key features that make is different from a CL:
Quad lamp grill.
4 spoke "GT style" steering wheel.
Green tinted glass.
'Plus Ultra' decal, bonnet and read panel, rear quarter panels and front wings, all tied together with a wide Gold or Silver coach line.
Height adjustable driver seat.
Sunroof (maybe as an option, although is visible in both examples I've now found).
Phillips Rally 5000 4 speaker stereo radio cassette.

And finally, the icing on the cake GOLD!!!! VW badge front and rear.
