HELP - Trying to find J382 DTU / F2 KED

Trying to track down my Grandads 3dr MK2 Golf Driver in Pasadena Blue that he used to take me everywhere in as a kid. The reg was J382 DTU but is now F2 KED. Last thing I can find on Google Search is John Brum (JB) from Birmingham aka "Brummy" on Volkzone / VZi and "j0n" on ClubGTI put a for sale ad back in 2016 and said he also listed it on ebay. I can see that it is faxed and tested so its still in use.

If anyone has any info with regards to the whereabouts of the current owner, the car or of the previous owner John, then please get in touch with me directly.

I don't think I'm alone in that when I'm a bit bored I will check out previous cars / registrations I've owned to see where they are now.

I'm guessing you've tried all the standard places like the Govt tax / MOT sites plus some of the commercial ones like Cazana.

If J382DTU is coming back as no record at all, I've found that can mean the car has been re-registered (a private plate put on it for example) and while it still exists the number has gone into limbo.

If a private plate is taken back off a vehicle, usually the original number will be reinstated which is likely why they're withdrawn / not re-issued so this can happen... unfortunately that also means you having to re-check periodically in case it happens (if ever).

I looked on the gov website and it does not recognize  the registration number, I think that means the car has either had its plates changed or the car no longer exists. Cars are scrapped due to accident damage as well as poor condition.

@Eddypeck

Is that Lucy (without a numberplate) in some of the images?

No it's not, but I recognise some of the characters in the background though so it was a local meet up, Most likely Weston or Brean in 2012 so a year before I got my other white one.

Good news, that it's still on the road.

Surprised DVLA issued that number - could be mis-read!

It was the wheels, look very similar.

There's possibly a number plate on the dash?

Can't make it out, my peepers aren't as good as they used to be.

Haha! Just realised I took those photos!
I replied on FB but there was a guy called Jon who it belonged to, as mentioned, I sold him an 8v engine for it, not sure if the whole thing went in.

The fact it's got a (quite funny) personal plate means someone still loves it.

Bit of an update on Grandads Mk2 for anyone that is interested.

I found the reg plate was F2 KED, then found the MOT test number and spoke to the MOT Test Station, found VRT in Slough brought it in for an MOT after completing a 3.2 R32 engine conversion. I haven't managed to get hold of VRT yet but I fee llike I'm getting closer each week.

Sounds like your grandads car is going to be a VERY different beast to when he had it!
